Conducting an employment audit
It is important you keep up to speed with the law as it is ever-changing and particularly important in the workplace. To illustrate this tendency of employment law to change, minimum wages change every year; the Equality Act was passed in 2010 and sick notes have now been replaced Employment law disputes not only create trouble in the workplace, they create trouble outside too as employment tribunals and court cases are public and can potentially attract the wrong kind of attention to your business. We can conduct audits in your business to make sure you are up to date.
Recent changes to the law – fit notes
Studies have shown that working is good for one’s overall well-being, both physically and mentally and where appropriate, can help sick employees make a quicker recovery. With this in mind, a new idea has been bought in to replace the sick note – fit notes. With sick notes, doctors only had two options. To either state that the employee was fit for work or not fit for work. However, with the new system, doctors can now state that the employee may be fit for work if the advice that is given is followed. This might involve making changes to the workplace, allowing the employee to work flexibly or changing the nature of the work the employee does to suit his needs.
